As stated earlier, there is a sea of souls out there in the world and we are to be the fishermen. It is sad to say that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.

Why is this? Why are there so few laborers who are willing to reel in the harvest? I don't have all of the answers. But I beleive one of the reasons is because we are expecting the harvest to come to us. I am here to tell you that is not going to happen. The bible says for YOU to GO get them. The bible does not tell THEM to COME looking for you. YOU must go to THEM. We are to be Fishers of Men.

About 85% of fishing has to do with going where the fish are. The fish are not going to come to the fisherman. That would be commiting suicide. YOU GO where they are. When you are being led by the Holy Spirit, the fish's hiding place will be revealed. You will find them. But you must GO!!

If my occupation is to be a Fisherman, then it would make perfect sense for me to learn what I must do in order to successfully perform my job. How does one become a fisherman? I'm glad you asked.

A good fisherman knows that the best time for going fishing is on the ebb tide, which should be at an early hour in the morning to render the trip most favorable. If we are going to be fishing for men, then we need to begin on the ebb tide. We need to rise up early in the morning and spend time in the presence of God. There is no way we can successfully become fishers of men without giving the firstfruits of our day to God. When we rise up and spend time in God's presence, He will give us our "fishing orders" for the day. He'll tell you where to go, what to do, what to say, etc....

The first thing one must do in order to LEGALLY fish is obtain a fishing license. The fishing license authorizes you to go fishing in public waters. The fishing liscence that you need in the Spiritual Arena is Salvation. You can't go fishing without it.

Once you have your fishing liscense, you need to go out and get you some fishing gear. Many fisherman have tons of gear that they don't need and will never use. They go out and buy all of the things that the other fisherman have because they want to keep up with the latest trends, a/k/a keeping up with the jones'. You don't have to be like other fishermen. You are unique. Get that in your head. Use the tools that God gave you and stop wanting the tools that he has given to somebody else. The things that you MUST have are a fishing rod, a fishing line, a fishing reel and some fish bait.

The fishing rod, is the word of God. It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A rod can be used for punishment or correction. And you can't go fishing without it. The Word of God will not fail. It will accomplish exactly what He sends it forth to accomplish. It's alright to tell your testimony. But your testimony alone won't cut the butter. Make sure you relate your testimony back to the Word of God, because if you don't, it is nothing more than a good, happy ending story that does not reveal the glory of God.

Alright, you have your liscense and your rod. Now you need a fishing line. The fishing line is the Holy Spirit. Although you have the word (the rod), it will not benefit the fish unless you can get it to them. The Holy Spirit is the line that attaches himself to the Word of God as it comes out of your mouth and gets the Word to whomever it needs to get to. Without the Line of the Holy Spirit, you would have the Rod (the word) and you would have the fish in the water, but there would not be anything there to connect to the two together. We need the fishing line. We need the Holy Spirit.

Attached to the fishing line, there needs to be some bait, so the fish will bite. One interesting thing about fishing is that the fish don't always bite the same bait. The fish may have eaten flies last year. But this year if you fish with flies you might not catch anything. Why? Because the fish may be eating crickets this year. This is a true fact. I'm not making this up. In order for a fishermen to use the correct bait, the fishermen needs to study the waters in the area that they will be fishing. Whatever bug/insect is seen mostly floating on the surface of the waters is an indicator of what the fish are biting. And insect used other than the ones that are floating on the surface is not going to profit you much of anything. The revelation here is that we must be relevant. The way your daddy or your moma preached back in the day is not relevant to the generation of today. You have to study the waters of the world. See what the people are being influenced by. What music are they listening to? What seems to be getting most of their attention? Why is this getting their attention? How can I take what they are captivated by and make a message out of it? If I don't use the right bait, I'm not going to catch them. I must know what they like. Know what they are eating. Do away with religious tradition because in these days God is doing a NEW thing. How do you know He is doing a new thing? First of all, because His word says that He is and second of all because the fish are not biting the old thing anymore. Let me drop this nugget in your spirit---God's word is just as powerful today as it was in the days of Moses and in the days that Jesus walked the earth. His word does not get diluted with time. So if His Word is still powerful and we are using His Word and not catching any fish, then what's the problem? The problem is our approach. God has put creativity in all of us. Use that creativity to find new ways to catch the fish. Use the right bait.

The only thing you need now is a powerful fishing reel to reel the fish in. That reel is the powerful blood of Jesus. I don't care how big and bad the fish are, they are not to big and bad that the blood of Jesus can't reel them in. I don't care who they are or what they have done in their lifetime. They are not bigger and badder than the BLOOD OF JESUS!!

So there, now you know how to Fish. I urge you today to not just read about how to fish but to actually go out and become the fishers of men that God wants you to be. You have all of the fishing gear that you need. Let's reel in the Harvest.

Father God,

We love you and we bless Your mighty name! We ask you God to make us Fishers of Men. God show us where the Fish are. Reveal to us Holy Spirit what they are biting. Help us Holy Spirit to relate what they are biting to the delivery of the Gospel. Anoint and appoint us to reel in this Sea of Souls by the Powerful blood of Jesus. And God we will be quick to give your name all of the glory, honor and praise, in Jesus' name, Amen
