It is often said in the world that you must at times think outside the box. I think that the Church as a whole has not done this. Let me get this straight I am not saying that we should twist the scriptures. There has been a lot of damage done by people doing that of recent times. But how do we relate to them. Take an instance that a woman must keep quite in church. Now when Paul said that he was dealing with people who had come out of temple worship. A woman often took a leading part of the sensual part of their worship.
In other words he was dealing with an unruly crowd. If we took that to be the done thing in our churches today we would lose out in many ways. Look at Joyce Meyer as an example, or the part that women play in supporting the church and being used in the gifts. But if you said the scripture must be obeyed to the letter. 1 Corinthians 14 verse 34. for example.
In the early church there was a deaconess and Deborah was a prophetess and Judge and so we can go on. Thankfully people have thought outside the box on that one. Yet there was a large fellowship recently in my area . When the leader suddenly decided to enforce the scripture from Corinthians. It collapsed in a spectacular fashion and closed down. I rest my case.
