"I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh." Genesis 9:15
A covenant is a binding agreement and God made some statements to Noah saying what He would and would not do.
At a personal level, a rainbow is a reminder to me of the most important promises God has given me personally. Rainbows must have given Noah assurances, hope and faith. They have that effect on me.
A few weeks ago, I felt really short on faith, and really churned up within, unsure of work especially. I went out walking, it was raining and I was happy to shelter under a maple tree till the rain slowed. It was still showering as I approached home, then it stopped and a strong ray of light shone from the sun. I knew there would me a rainbow, and sure enough there was just as I was a few metres from my front door.
Instantly I felt hope and a bit of joy. My worry lifted a bit and I thought pictures (of a rainbow) are good, but words would give surer, definite hope. So I jotted these down as God's covenant to me.
The covenant of Salvation, God will be with me always, He will guide and protect me, His will is going to be done in my life always, He is with me in my job where I serve Him first, He will keep all His promises to me, He will honour my prayers for family, and loved ones, and will provide for them, and He will care for us.
I believe that God will never fail or forsake me, nor will He ever forget me. Even though He gives me signs like the rainbow the other day, it is mainly for my benefit. It reminds me He is in complete control of my life, and so aware of where I am and what the weather is going to do, to produce a rainbow at an exact time when I need to see one.
God is so aware of what goes on in my life and He cares much for me, my family and loved ones. He knows what He is doing, and my trust in Him is total. God is a loving Friend, Father, Helper and beyond all praise I can ever think or say. Staying close to Him is the key to life.
