Mother Earth (read slowly)
I sit by these mountains;
the skin that didn't rip,
when the core of the earth heaved,
breathed-out, from the heat of love within,
to birth abundant life.
Multiple spines, now mummified crests,
from the underground waves
that circled the earth.
Ribs of ground angled down
to create the valleys below.
The skin of the earth,
clothed in soil, crèmed with grass,
or, suntanned into rock.
Accessorised with trees and flowers,
kissed by natures life.
Breasts of hills, spilling the milk of life:
Water, returning the kiss;
pooling and flowing,
in the cradles of our blessed Mother Earth.
