Grandma's Hands collage photo grandmascollage_zpsb47b754a.jpg
Grandma’s hands map a journey,
From hope to days of strife.
They once were young and held
Promise of a fruitful life.

Her hands at one time captured
Fireflies in a Mason jar.
These hands have touched
Lives both near and far.

Her hands have held her sister’s
Throughout childhood years;
Holding tight in child’s games
And through joys and tears.

They have held Grandpa’s hands
Through trials and delight;
Standing by each other
Holding together tight.

Never in contempt or anger
Were her hands ever raised;
Positive reinforcement
For ice cream was her praise!

Hands now mapped with age
Once held her babies close,
Ruffling up tousled hair
In confident repose.

Through the years these hands
Have worked the hardened soil.
Countless hours were also spent
In sewing’s creative toil.

These hands have welcomed all
Into a love filled nest.
Always fresh baked goodies;
Our tastes were truly blessed!

Her hands wiped drops of sweat
From her weary brow,
She had no time to feel sorry,
For this she did not allow.

Grandma’s hands were full
Of giving love unconditional.
Many times these hands
Seemed truly invincible.

I have often marveled how
Her hands resemble mine,
I just hope I also carry
A similar legacy in my time.

Her hands have bridged our family
When the times were tough.
She always gave so much
A little was not enough!

These hands have held each one of us.
And have dried all our tears,
Hands that have held a history,
Of many fruitful years.

They taught us of respect,
Inspired each of us to shine;
Given for us to hold on to
Created by God’s design

These hands that did so much
Even now will not be stilled;
For within each of our hands
We pass on the love instilled.
