I was appalled! I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears when I turned on the television one day and saw a group of kids ranging in age from about eight to thirteen. These kids were wearing bracelets made of brightly colored rubber tubing. They were explaining that each color stood for a specific favor, ie; sex acts: everything from kissing to oral sex. These were trade bracelets, and the child was supposed to perform the act in exchange for the bracelet. Are they telling me that an eight year old child understands the meaning of this game?
If this is the kind of peer pressure that my future grand children are up against, I must stand up and loudly say, “I OBJECT!” I can’t imagine sending my child or grandchild to public school today with this kind of pressure. Children are not aloud to be children any more. What ever happened to playing house at age eight, or trading baseball cards?
We as parents and grandparents have got to step in. I don’t know what we can do to bring the innocence back into childhood, but I do know that we can stand together in prayer. And together our prayers will make a difference. Oh how the Lord must be grieved. Please join with me in praying for our children, their parents, teachers and schools.
Dear Heavenly Father,
How our hearts break for the lost innocence of this and future generations of Your children. We pray that You would open the eyes of our nation’s parents to the truth of what their kids are doing and learning on the playgrounds and streets of this nation. Give them godly ammunition to fight these fiery darts of the enemy and help them to stay alert at all times. Enable them to find the time to talk to their kids about these issues and to stay ever watchful for which ever evil trend is prevalent at the time. Lord, if there is any way for the teaching of morals and ethics to be brought back to the public school system work a miracle and bring them back.
And we pray that prayer groups would spring up all over the country to combat the enemy’s attack on our children. May Christian parents, teachers, principals and other school officials stand strong in prayer and in teaching our children the morals that you laid out so clearly in your Word. And show parents and teachers how we can take action against such satanic games. What can we do in addition to prayer and godly instruction, to render satin’s attack on our kids null and void? Give us wisdom Lord we pray.
Protect our children and give them the good judgment and strength to say NO in the face of temptation. We ask these things on behalf of the next generation, in the precious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.
