All that we bring to the Lord should be holy and acceptable for thus has the Lord given to us at all times.
"By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks." Hebrews 11:4 (NKJV)
We could either bring to the Lord as Abel or as Cain.
God just does not look at the gift being brought much more than the giver..
Here's how the offering of Cain and Abel is narrated in the book of Genesis.
"....And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering......" Genesis 4:4-5 (NKJV)
God was first pleased with Abel and then his offering, however God was displeased with Cain and thus his offering.
Howsoever beautiful and worth our offering may be, God will never be pleased if the soul that offers it is not right with Him.
Our God is not hungry for gifts, rather we are His first priority, and thus the first thing He desires from us is a holy and pure life acceptable to Him.
Here's how Paul requires us to worship...
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 12:1(NKJV)
Thus, let our lives be true, Spirit filled and holy before our Lord and then shall He be pleased with us and all that we bring.
