I Saw Jesus in Dreads
I Saw Jesus in Dreads
By Beatrice Cochran
Man, last nigh I had a strange dream
That I saw Jesus in dreads!
I wonder what it could possibly mean
Oh, you mean you saw our Lord
With gold halo around his holy head?
Oh I bet his gown was the purest white
Did his presence and radiance, blind you?
No, Man! I said I saw Jesus in dreads!
He wasnít wearing a holy gown
He was wearing jeans- simple blue jeans
The man in my dreams wore a t-shirt
His sandaled feet were dusty as if he had
Been walking around the entire globe
He looked exhausted and hungry
What caught my attention were his eyes
They were sorrowful as if accusing me
Of some neglectful sin I had committed
He looked at me for a very long time
And he said to me:
ďSon of man, can I have some food?Ē
He reached out his brown hands to me
Right there on both of his palms
Were holes nails had pieced deeply
(Thatís how I knew he was Jesus)
And His hands were bleeding
He held them out to me expecting something
Man, I donít know what your dream means
But last year I went to India
And a little boy held out his dirty brown
Hands to me and told me he was hungry
I was about to help him when I realized
That there were millions of them just like him
I could not help them so simply walked away
But I wonder what your dream means!
