(Genesis 2:16-17) But the Lord God warned him; "You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden~{!*~} 17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die."
Sadly, yesterday, in what started out as a day of fun, turned tragic as evil enveloped The Boston Marathon. The bomb attacks killed several, including an 8-year-old little boy. It was a sight of blood and carnage as victims lost their legs and sustained serious burns, and injuries from shrapnel to their lower extremities.
I prayed this morning, and I ask God to make him known to each victim and their families. I also prayed Boston would know that God did not forsake its beautiful city. I grieve where anyone thinking today, "If God is all-powerful and loving, why does he allow evil?"
God did not create the world the way it is today. If he did, then we might be able to debate His love and kindness. Rather, God created a perfect world, where Adam and Eve could live without the urge to do evil. Yet the decision to stay in this perfect paradise would be their decision, because God also created them with freewill. He loved them and wanted to protect them from experiencing all that evil would bring into their lives.
To truly love God is our choice. Knowing what lied ahead, imagine Gods sadness, when Adam and Eve's chose to listen to Satan instead of obeying Him. Expelled from "Paradise," Adam and Eve began their life of toil. Eve gave birth to two sons, Cain and Abel. Unlike Adam and Eve, created without the urge to do evil, their offspring were born into a different world. Abel chose "good" and Cain chose "evil," committing the first murder in history.
Murder and acts of terrorism has no empathy for others or a compelling sense of right and wrong. This is not from God, this is from Satan, the great deceiver who will one day be crushed beneath our feet for all eternity and seeks to take as many souls with him as possible.
God hasn't turned his back against man, on the contrary, He allowed the brutal murder of His own son, so that one day we will no longer endure the sting of death. He knows the pain and agony of experiencing loss to murderers and terrorist. Man chose for his eyes to open to the knowledge of good and evil. Until the end of this world, man will continue to experience the pain that evil brings. Was God punishing the people of Boston yesterday for sin? No, definitely not, those who chose evil over good, death over life, did target them. We can't always prevent evil in this world, but we can choose the One who will soon end all evil and suffering!
(John 10:10) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
