Ephesians 1:21-23 and Philippians 2:9-11 have some profound words to say about Christ's rule over the world. Jesus is "far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things..." (Ephesians) "Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians)(NASV, published by the Lockman Foundation.)
Isn't it good to know this truth in today's culture and economy. Christ is above all the turmoil and chaos. He is far above all rulers and authority and power and dominion. Nothing in this upheaval of governments and rulers is catching Him by surprise. In the final analysis everyone and everything is subject to His authority.
All the government leaders are like pawns on God's great chess board. He moves people as he sees fit, and there is coming a time when God will yell "checkmate." The game will be over and He will be the winner. All those who have laughed at His Word or have willfully denied His existence, will lose.
The world governments, leaders, and anyone else who has thought they could run the world without God will be forced to "confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." God will have the final last Word. "The Lord has established His throne in the heavens; And His sovereignty rules over all." Psalm 103: 19
God is still in charge, and this is a great reminder for all of us today! Is He in charge of your life? Will you be on the winning side or the losing side?
