Sunday 4/14/13 Pastor Michael sermon Position For the Blessing = Power of Praise Psalm 34:1-8
All our lives we are programed on how to react to things around us. We have an instinctive, impulsive reaction either happy or sad. The circumstances of life dictate our emotions. People of God need to tap into the sovereignty of God. God is in Control! God is not surprised by the things that happen to us. God is in Control! When we get sick, lose our job, God has a back up plan for us. God is never surprised by things! We are better off depending on God in our life. God is good no mater what we are experiencing in life. God is good!
Godís goodness remains no matter what happens to us. In our text, God raised David up because he praised God while he was still a shepherd boy. David told giant Goliath what God was going to do to him. David won the victory thru Godís power. God has anointed David! When King Saul got jealous over David and tried to kill him, God blocked it! David is running from Saul when he wrote this psalm. God knows how to get us out of stuff. David praised God. The secret weapon is our praise. That is the one thing that the devil cannot take from us. He can touch our job, our mind, our car, our family but the devil CANNOT touch our PRAISE!!
1) Persistent Praise vs. 1:
Bless the Lord at ALL times. No matter what we are experiencing, no matter how bad things get. Praise the Lord! Open your Mouth! Praise the Lord! Donít be acting cute and calm in church. Praise the Lord who put food on your table! Praise the Lord! If the Lord wasnít on our side we wouldnít be here today. God picked us up and turned us around! Praise the Lord! Bless the Lord at ALL times! Continually give God Praise. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving! The key to our blessing is thru our Praise of God! We need to stop losing our praise every time we go thru something. The more Hell we go thru, the more and louder our Praise of God should be. Lift up your voice! Bless the name of the Lord! Lift up your voice in the Sanctuary! Praise the Lord!
2) Praise Thru All Tests:
Sometimes the only thing that will keep us sane is our Praise. Let praise continually be in our mouths. The tests do not stop our praise. Our tests in life solidify our praise! The tests of our life and our praise are often for the people who are watching us. Verse 2. The humble shall hear of it. They see that God is with us thru the tests. They see us praising God thru it all!
3) Praise Him! Praise Him! vs 3:
Magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together. One thing we can do is to praise and magnify the Lord together. There is strength in corporate praise. All of us praise Him together! Letís have a Holy Ghost Praise Party!
4) Focus On God and Not On The Problem vs 7:
Donít make the problem Big. Make God Big. Focus on Who is going to bring us out! Hallelujah!! When we praise God, we are saying God is more powerful than any problem we may have. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in the Lord. God will have angels surround us and protect us. Vs. 7 ItĎs in the power of praise that we bring the ďPopĒ. We pop over, we pop out and we pop thru the trouble. The Praise to God brings the Pop! We praising, we popping! God will pop us out of our troubles. David wandered around but for so long. Then God took care of King Saul and he was dead. Then all the people called for David to come back to be king. Saul hated on David because he knew that some day he would be king. They told David to pop on back to Israel and take your throne! Praise! Pop! Praise! Pop! Praise is our secret weapon and Praise is the invitation for God to come into our situation.
