The hope chest, what do man expect to find? Proverbs 18:22 says he that finds a wife finds a good thing. A man expect and hope to find his good thing in a woman some day. He searches for her throughout his life. He starts with his mother, then with his girlfriend, and his wife. What is in the treasure they look for? God put the heavenly inside the body of a woman that a man should seek to know just how he is to seek to know God; it is hidden treasure.
First they hope to find a treasure to mine; that treasure being in the mind. A mind is a terrible thing to waste and yet so many girls and women waste it away on foolishness rather than perfecting it in Christ. A mind after Christ is what a man looks for in the treasure chest. They hope to have one that they can relate to and have relationship with. Philippians 2:5 let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus; that mind is focused toward God. The treasure of the mind is of utmost importance and will not wander if it is placed in the right place.
Secondly they look for a heart of gold. A heart of gold is pure and undefiled and will remain faithful. Jesus said in Matthew 5:8 blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. This heart is one that has been tested and found to be stable, settled, and rich in mercy. What's in the treasure of the heart? Love! Every man wants to be loved from his mother on to his wife. If a man has never had the love of a mother it's hard for him to love. Every mama is not a mother, some are just someone that provides a seed. A man looks for treasure in a woman very much like his mother. When a woman is carried away of her own lusts she don't have in most cases a heart to love and care for children that may come along in a marriage. Many today don't treasure themselves in the area of marriage. Hebrews 13:4 says marriage is honorable and the bed is undefiled. Every woman should treasure to herself to have her own husband. This comes along in a heart of gold; the right desires that one delights in.
Thirdly they look for that spirit of longevity. They want a lasting relationship with someone that treasure honesty, truthfulness, and virtue. These values in the treasure chest will cause a man to work and provide as he should and take care of his responsibilities. In this treasure is much love; for it is padded with a pearl that is hard to find. This woman will not let anyone touch her that comes along, she is selective in her choices and not easily wooed by the lines of lies men will tell. She first proves that man and see if he is worthy of her treasure. Is he honest, truthful, and have a word. These values in the treasure chest lets a man know that he have to be on the up and up with no game. This treasure holds trust and is very important. Psalm 37:3 trust in the Lord and do good, so shall thou dwell in the land and verily thou shalt be fed. Longevity has promise and with a promise comes all that a man need to satisfy his own peace of mind. It has security locked within it because he can securely work to an end when he is pleased.
Fourthly a man looks for commitment in the soul realm. In this treasure is joy, joy unspeakable for when a woman possess a committed life in Christ she will be committed to man also. A man looks for a treasure chest full of committment. The gold is there continuously waiting to be found. Gold don't run around looking to be found but sits and waits patiently in the Lord. Psalm 37:5 commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. When a man view the treasure chest and find committment he is confident of the treasure on the inside. He is assured that he can turn his back and she won't be gone off with another. He finds a confidant, a friend, a companion that is complete and he can entrust his most valued secrets with her. He finds that she will be responsible to keep her promises and duty to him. This is a house he can construct and build on to place his valuables for safekeeping.
Fifthly he looks for a jewel not an ornament he can carry around on his arm. A man wants to dress his jewel his way. A woman that is respectful has much value. Isaiah 3:16-17 talks about the punishment of women for pride. A jewel is humbled while an ornament is prideful and haughty. Moreover the Lord says, because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go and making a tinkling (noisy) with their feet; therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts. In this treasure is the body. The bravery of the tinkling ornaments will be taken away; for they talk loud but have no substance left in them. Instead of the jewel being placed on the inside it is shown only on the outside for every other man to partake of. This other man only feasts his eyes upon what he can see, the chains, bracelets, mufflers, the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and teh headbands and teh tablets, and the earrings, the rings, and nose jewels, the changeable suits of apparel, and teh mantles, and the wimples and the crisping pins, the glasses and the fine linen and the hoods and the veils that carry no substance except to be used up. A jewel is beautiful to look upon but can be deceptive is it has not been tried and found to be pure gold. This jewel if not properly seasoned with a life of Christ will mourn and lament in want all of her life.
Finally when a man finds a wife, his good thing he finds beauty inside and on the outside for she is beautified with meekness. She brings to him glory for she is a precious jewel in his sight. She seeks only to please him. She shall bring forth fruit to him of an excellent nature and is comely; attractive and pleasing. She has a conviction like no other that can be persuaded away. She believes in her husband and her faith is unwavering. She is established in her vow and won't condemn, convict or pronounce doom on her husband. She is in conformity to a standard and can communicate as well as listen to him. She is able to give advice, guidance and suggestions to her husband that will build him up. Marriage washes away the filth and purge the blood of the woman; for it takes away the burning within to sin.
This man has found his treasure hidden beneath the covering and can be well pleased with his beloved. A man goes on the inside to find his treasure.
