The word man is a Hebrew word that literally means the breath of God or the spirit. When God said ďLet Us make man in Our image and likenessĒ, He was referring to the spirit man. Just like God is Spirit, man is also a spirit. God took the spirit man and He formed one male body and another female body.
In second Chapter of Genesis, it describes about how a body was given to a spirit man by God. God created man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils and man became a living being. So thereafter, he is called Adam. The word Adam means red dirt or dark soil. So man has two different origins, one part of him comes from the earth and other part of him comes from God, put together he now becomes a living being. God created man as male and female, and He created male first.
Purpose is the key to understand everything. God is a God of purpose. Everything He does is according to His purpose and the key to fulfilment in life is to understand Godís purpose. God did not create man first because he is greater than woman instead He created man first because of a purpose. There is nothing to do with superiority or inferiority.
The significance of God creating man first is that he should be responsible and he is supposed to be a leader to lead because he was the first to see everything, to hear everything, receive all instructions from God, and receive all orders from God about the earth and human life. This is the reason even though Eve did sin, God asked Adam because he was the one to lead her and to give instructions to her about what God has told to him.
Ephesians 5:25 says husbands love your wives, and that means husbands should initiate the love because man was created first as a love creature. The women are not made to first love. They are made to love in response to your love. If you love your wife, you can literally make her love you back, because you can inspire love in her because she has got the love inside of her but it is a responsive love, yours is an initiating love.
How to love your wife? Love your wife just like Christ loved the church. Jesus loved the church by giving Himself for her that means He puts her first. So loving your wife means to give yourself for her. You need to put her first in everything you do, be first to serve her, be first to gift her, be first to speak kind words to her, be first to show love towards her, take the responsibility to make the home work, take the responsibility to establish peace in the home, put down your egos and do whatever is necessary, so that there can be peace and prosperity at home. So the first thing that a man has to do is he must first give himself for his wife and children.
Second thing, He must sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word. This means he should use the Word of God in such a way to edify her, to build her up, and to make her strong so that all her fears, doubts, apprehensions, and all her bad feelings, uncertainties, or anxieties are removed from her mind. In essence, the husband must be the man of Word. He must be the one in the home that really knows the Word and knows how to apply the Word in the relationship between him and his wife.
When the wife is afraid and when she does not know what is going to happen, husbands need to take charge. Husbands need to tell wife, Praise God ! Everything is going to be all right, I am going to believe God and we are going to win. Read the Word of God to her and feed her the Word of God and let she be strengthened and be courageous. God appointed man to be a good spiritual leader to lead his wife. The Word of God builds up a man and it builds up faith and confidence. The husband has such an effect on the wife. This effect comes from the Words what the husband speaks to her, it is words of life, words of God, building words, edifying words, words of love, words of hope, words of faith.
Words are so important because words bring hope, words bring faith, and words drive out fear. You do not have to move mountains to bring happiness in the home; the Word of God is enough because it is the Word that move mountains, and that is why Jesus said if any man says to this mountain be removed and be cast into the sea. The problem may look like a mountain, but if you speak to the mountain in a right way using Godís Words, then every mountain will move and fall down. It is amazing to look what Words can do in home, therefore husbands being first in creation mean that they are to be initiators and take the lead in speaking the Word of God to build up home. Therefore, when God created man first, He indicated priority that he is first to lead the woman into happiness, joy, peace, and blessings. He is the first to lead the family into peace and success.
Husband should love the wife just like Christ loved the church. Jesus is the bridegroom and we are the brides. He first loved us and by knowing His love, we started to love Him. This kind of love when shown to a wife will lead to a successful and a prosperous marriage life.
'Ruach' (Strong's H7307) is the Hebrew word for 'breath', 'spirit', and 'wind'. The Hebrew word for 'man' is 'adam (Strong's H120), and it does NOT mean 'breath of God' or 'spirit' as you have falsely indicated (without providing any reference I might add). It specifically indicates a literal 'physical' man, and/or 'mankind' in general. You also seem to assert a belief that a 'spirit-man' was somehow created first, and then a body was created from the ground and given to the spirit man. There is no biblical evidence or doctrine to support such a belief, however, the cult of Mormonism believes that very thing. As for the meaning of "let Us make man ('adam) in Our image",- God (Strong's H430 - 'Elohim', indicating 'plurality') is referring to the 'triune' being and nature of man (body, soul and spirit) made in the likeness, or 'image', of the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Elohim did not create a 'body (man, 'adam) for a spirit man. He created a man ('adam) from the dust of the ground first, and then breathed (ruach/spirit) the breath of life (ruach/spirit) into him. - - - (Truthfully Stephen, you may want to give serious consideration to the admonition and warning in James 3 vs 1)
