I had been shopping at Hurstville in Sydney (Friday Feb 13th 2003) and was waiting 10 minutes for some photos to be printed at a shop run by Vietnamese. I walked along the main street looking for someone to talk to and Xiaoling Yu (China) approached me and said, “Excuse me, sir. Three minutes of your time for me to tell you about Master Card.”
I suddenly thought of an idea and replied, “Xiaoling Yu, I will give you 3 minutes of my time if at the end you will give me 3 minutes of your time for me to tell you something.” She looked at me with a big question mark on her face and replied eventually, “Ok agreed.” And so she began. I half listened but mostly was praying for her and asking the Lord what I was going to say for 3 minutes? I could see that she wasn’t entirely concentrating on her memorised speech especially near the end, as she was obviously wondering what I was going to say! She finished, gave me some material and then said, “Ok. You have 3 minutes. What are you going to tell me?”
With my watch at hand to time myself, I began my briefest ever gospel presentation starting with, “Xiaoling Yu, God loves you so very much…” At the end of the 2nd minute she asked, “How do you know God?” So the 3rd minute I devoted to a rushed testimony of my daughter Jessica’s adoption from China (in 1990) during which tears came to her eyes, and I concluded at the end of 3 minutes, offering her my 'Plans and Choices of the Heart' tract and a Chinese tract. She accepted both and thanked me for telling her this. She had to get back to business so I farewelled her (as she wiped and tried to dry her eyes,) my spirit praying deeply for her.
Back at the camera shop I spoke to Lee (Vietnam) as I picked up my 2 passport photos and he thanked me for the Vietnamese tract I left him. God’s grace had arranged my 10 minutes.
