Cats are very complex creatures
They have so many redeeming features,
You don't own them, they own you;
You are their staff member it's true.
And you will do what they want you to.
When your cat has a desire to eat.
You're their best friend, they fall over your feet.
What he liked before he won't like today;
Oh give me something else, the meow will say.
So the leftover food, you throw away.
When a friend does come along to visit,
And does not think a cat's exquisite;
The moggie will climb upon their knee
To make them as nervous as can be,
I'll tame this one, the cat thinks with glee.
When your little puss goes outside,
In the big thick bushes, she tends to hide.
You watch a little bird on the lawn hopping by,
Then the leaping of the feline, it is nigh!
Too late! That birdie will surely die.
I sometimes wonder why my cat
Often upon my warm car is sat.
When the temperature is 100 degrees,
How could this pastime possibly please?
She stretches out, life is such a breeze.
When puss escapes onto the street at night,
A sleepless time you'll have till morning light.
Then in through the door he'll come without a care,
Of your anxious moments, he's unaware;
"Please place my food on the floor down there."
Now when I arise and vacate my seat,
Instantly my feline jumps up; the warmth is a treat.
I glare at him and say, "Where am I supposed to sit?"
He looks as if to say, "So, what of it?"
I find another chair and, on that, I sit.
Cats are wild animals, well this is true;
But accepting that fact is hard to do.
At night, when puss climbs into your lap,
And contentedly purrs while he's having a nap
You couldn't imagine life without this chap!
