Did you know we are going to receive crowns from our Lord? When the day comes when He returns, He will give us the Crown of Life and the Crown of Righteousness. These are something to look forward to when we go to heaven. The best thing is we will put the crowns at the feet of Jesus.
2Timothy 4:8(KJV)--Henceforth there is laid up for me a Crown of Righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.
James 1:12(KJV)--Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; when he is tried, he shall receive the Crown of Life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him.
In 1Corinthians, Chapter 9, verses 24-27 discuses how people of the world train and discipline themselves to run the race aimlessly for a corruptible crown, which does not last. Christians have determination and discipline so not to discipline to not be disqualified from receiving the prize of an incorruptible crown that will last forever. We shall give up something we want in order to do God's will. Each person has special duties to determine the discipline and denial that he or she must accept to get the job done. Pleasing God is our best goal to have because our denial of things we want seems like nothing compared to the eternal, imperishable reward that will be ours.
There may be things to complain about in this life, but there still is a lot to praise God for--He forgives our sins; heals our diseases; redeems us from death; crowns us with love and compassion; satisfies our desires; gave us His magnificent creation; and gives righteousness and justice. We don't deserve any of these, but receive them anyway. No matter how hard our journey gets, remember to praise God. His eternal reward is what we are looking forward to.
I would rather have knowledge and wisdom about God than anything in the world. He is the most important and interesting person to study, read about, and get to know. Knowing why God sent His Son, Jesus, to us to save us from eternal death is the best thing I ever learned.
Hebrews 2:9(KJV)--But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
We should always praise Jesus with the glory and honor that He deserves. His glory and honor will live forever for what He did for us. His glory and honor shines on us every day. Let us honor Him by sharing Him with people who do not know Him. Praise the Lord!
Our hope comes from Jesus. Our joy comes from knowing that Jesus saved us and is always with us. We are able to rejoice because we know that we can look forward to being in eternity with Him. This is the blessed hope for Christians--that Jesus is returning one day for us, His church.
