Thank you, Father, for the freedom You've given me from sins grasp.
Its taken a while for me to realize:
Well, then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more kindness?
Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we became Christians and were baptized to become one with Christ Jesus, we died with him? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism.
And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we must also live new lives.
Father, there are times that I cooperate with
my old sinful nature.
Please, if it is Your will,
by the power of The Spirit of.Christ,
give all Your children the strength, courage and bravery we need to turn away from our old plans, desires and goals.
You know, Father, how our heart desires to glorify You.
Help us live to do so.
If it is Your will,
by the power of The Spirit of Christ,
May The Spirit make us dead and unresponsive to our old sinful nature as You work within us.
Yes, Father, renew our innermost being, and transform us into Your likeness.
Mold us to be who we were meant to be in You.
For we are bound to You, Father,
And if it is Your will,
By the power of The Spirit of Christ,
give us the power to do good rather than evil.
I'm praying for us all, Father,
for we both know:
being Christian isn't being sometime who can't sin,
but someone who is no longer a slave to it:
I speak this way using the illustration of slaves and masters, because it is easy to understand. Before you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness. Now you must choose to be slaves of righteousness so that you will become holy.
In those days, when you were slaves to sin, you weren't concerned with doing what was right. And what was the result? It was not good, since now you are ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and resuly in eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
So since we have now become slaves to Christ through baptism, Father,
May The Spirit remind us of all things right.
May all rewards big and small be enough to encourage us to keep the faith.
I ask these things in Jesus' name,
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come.
