1Corinthians 11:32(NLT)--But when we are judged and disciplined by the Lord, we will not be condemned with the world.
Have you ever said, "Nobody will know" or "This won't hurt anyone?" Think again. You will know and so will God. He is omnipresent and omniscient. He gave us free will; so He will not stop us either way. We have the choice to use our free will as a blessing--all good decisions; or a curse--full of sinful actions. There are always consequences for negative behavior. All sin is equally wrong in the eyes of God--from cheating on a test or telling a little 'white lie' to taking the Lord's name in vain or murder.
Sin is rebellion against God and separates us from Him. He abhors any and all sin because He is perfect, holy, and pure. Sin is so serious God considers it a death penalty. Guilt is one of the consequences that people acquire after sinning. Satan will make sure the guilt grows out of proportion. That sin was an opening for the devil to work on their weaknesses. That is why repentance is so important and a necessity. So yes, sin does hurt someone--you. It also hurts God because sin separates Him from us. The Good News is that God sent His Son, Jesus, to take away the sins of the world; the only way we are able to be forgiven so we may be reconciled to God.
