A Silent Place by Maria Egilsson
"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed." Mark 1:35 (NIV)
Father, in divine love you lead us to silent places where your absence is like a deafening echo that presses against the soul. With trembling confidence we cling to what we know because we cannot feel. Our sight is fixed upon that "God-forsaken" cross where your Son knew that in the darkest hours are the deepest works.
Do you find yourself in a dark, solitary and silent place? Jesus understands. He knows what it is like to feel forsaken. You can take courage in the work of the cross because in his darkest hour you find your greatest hope. It is in his death that you find life. As Easter morning comes it brings the promise of renewed life. As you place your trust fully in God's hands know that it was love that held his Son on that cross and it is love which holds you now. So, poor hurting soul, wherever you may be found and whatever your circumstance, Jesus has opened to your heart a new divine reality he wishes to share with you. We in Christ have hope for tomorrow because of the divine witness in our hearts of a better world coming, for the meek Nazarene is still speaking. As it is written Christ in you the hope of glory. (Colossians 3:4 NLT)
