Sunday 3/24/13 Pastor Michael sermon = The Rewards of the Blessing Deut. 28:1-13
Think about the word Blessing. Often people donít understand what it means. The biblical term ďblessingĒ is about the hand of Godís favor on your life. It is sharing the benefits of Godís love. It is being under the umbrella of protection of God. Godís blessing is continual. He never runs out of blessings for us. We need to not limit Godís blessing on our lives.
Moses was trying to get the children of Israel to understand Godís blessing on their lives. Donít let people get you out of your position to get your blessing. This is what happened to Moses and why he didnít go into the Promised Land. Moses was giving them instructions that they needed to abide in the blessing. But the blessing is not automatic just because they were going to the Promised Land. The blessing has more to do with what you believe about God and how He will bless you. The place of the blessing is important but your belief in God is more important. You can still miss your blessing in the place of promise and blessing if you donít obey God and His Word. If you donít obey then you wonít get the blessing no matter how much blessings are around you. The blessing comes with obedient living. The rewards will come but are activated by your Obedience.
1) Bless Your Walk vs 3, 5, 6 : You will be blessed wherever you go. Wherever you go, the blessing will follow you. It is with you. Anything you step into, if the blessing is on you, then it will be blessed. As you walk in obedience, know that you are operating in the blessing. Just step up in there and know that wherever you go, God is right there! When the blessing is on your life, you donít need to have a good credit score, the car is yours, the house is yours. God will produce the down payment on the house and on the car! When we are blessed, we donít need to cut corners or take short cuts or do any bootlegging.
2) Bless Your Work vs 7: God will bless all that we put our hands to do. He will accelerate our work. He will expose and chase out our enemies at work. Then we will know what we are to do to get to our next elevation level. Stop whining about our enemies but praise God that he let us see what is really going on. God will expose people who want to keep us from our blessing. He will make our enemies our footstools to climb up to our next level. Our haters kept us on our knees in prayer to God. We were in His presence more and more and are elevated in God.
3) God Will Inflate Our Barns : Our barns are our bank accounts. God will inflate and increase our bank accounts. He is God and He can do it! How? Because He is God! God will put the money in our account and we wonít know where it came from. Believe God to give us money that just shows up!
4) Bless you Ways vs 10, 13: You will be the lender and not the borrower. The head and not the tail! There is a blessing over the people in this church who will walk in obedience to the Word. When you tell God that you will do what He says with your money, you will have more than you know what to do with. God does not mind us having stuff. He just doesnít want stuff having us! Gods want to bless us!
