Romans 6:6-7 Ďwe know that our old sinful were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.í
Overcoming repetitive sin in our lives can often take a long time to conquer, but once we know that we overcome sin through Jesus we will no longer have to try and accomplish things in our own strength, because God promises us that he will provide a way out of our temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13) we just have to make him our focus!
Whatever youíre struggling with, lust, pornography, doubt, addiction etc. God can break the chains of sin in your life as long as you can trust in him! Something I have learned along my journey with Jesus is never to take matters into my own hands, or think I can overcome sin myself. This is impossible because sin is powerful, letís not underestimate it, however when our focus is on Jesus, we will find ourselves overcoming our sin because letís face it, Jesus is far more powerful than the devil and his schemes.
Remember also that because of Jesusí death and resurrection, we no longer have to live the ways we used to, instead we can have new life in Christ. Jesus has set us free, so letís live in our freedom! The way in which we focus on Jesus is simply through prayer, fasting and bible reading. If we continue in these disciplines, our love for Jesus will grow and as a result we will come to hate our sin and then our sin will lose its grip on us. May you be blessed on your journey with Christ.
