The favored city of Israel
Is trimmed with palm spreads
Jerusalem the reigning city
All standing on guard and ready.
There He arrives at last in humble fame
The one who comes in the Lordís name
To enter His passion and glory
Within the walls of the town.
A standing ovation awaits Him
Cheering and waving of olive fronds
The ground is layered to receive His step
He comes of His own will to his own.
A festive spring is the look of the day
Branches and cloaks all the way
A greeting like this never seen before
What a Passover time this year!
Jerusalem, your gates are blessed this day
The Holy One within your midst
To leave a trail of blessings as He comes
On those hastening towards Him to welcome.
Today we greet him not just with palms
But our own soul carpeted in His love
Hail the King of the Jews this day!
Hosanna in the highest, chant all the way.
