Easter then....

Faded memories like water colors
Little pink dresses and little white shoes
Jelly bean joy and Easter egg dyes
Rainbow baskets of greens and blues

Dogwood trees full of blossoms
A nail scarred hand in each flower
Kneeling before a floral altar
King of Glory holds the power

Easter now....

What a packaged prefab world
Designer dresses and neon shoes
Plastic eggs filled with nothing
Imitation baskets give me the blues

Dogwood trees full of blossoms
A nail scarred hand in each flower
Kneeling before a floral altar
King of Glory holds the power

Enchantingly beautiful . . .

Lynn, I love your first stanza about the pink dresses and little white shoes (those certainly were the days...) as well as the very lovely repeated stanza about the dogwood in both of your pieces. Thankfully as your wonderful title shares, Christ does remain the same! Have you ever seen the poem on the Dogwood Tree? A copy was sent after the Oklahoma City bombing to the White house after they planted a Dogwood on the White House lawn. Thank you so much for this. I am really glad you entered this challenge. God's loving blessings on you my friend.
