Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. Matthew 8:23-26 New International Version
Some people think if they follow Jesus everything will be like going for a walk in the park with the birds singing and pretty flowers on a sunny day.
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
The disciples obeyed Jesus when He told them to go to the other side of the lake. While crossing a very bad storm came up and almost sunk the boat. Yet in the worst of the storm Jesus calmed it.
So too it is with us. We are all going to go through storms in life. Sometimes just when all seems lost Jesus calms the storm.
I went through some really stormy seas when I was teaching with a headmaster who did everything she could to make my life miserable. Yet in the end the other teachers, parents and students respected me greatly because by Gods grace I showed so much grace to her.
Do not believe Jesus has abandoned you. He loves you so much He would suffer and die for you, why would He desert you?
Do not believe they are necessarily there because you have done something wrong.
It is through the storms in life that Jesus moves us to where He wants us to go.
I went through a time with no job and no money. I walked the ditches in knee deep snow in the dead of winter to collect enough money to pay for a loaf of bread and jar of honey. That is what I lived off of for a week. Then one day while reading a newspaper there was a tiny ad for a school in the city. I was very afraid but applied and was accepted. Because I was living in that city I went to a natural pathic school and have been using that medicine for over thirty years to help people.
So do not be surprised when the storms come.
Prayer: Thank you my beloved Jehovah Shammah (The Lord is present) for walking with me through the many storms in my life. It has deepened my love, respect and confidence in Your strong but gentle loving hand in my life. I give thanks for this blessing in the name of He who walked His disciples through so many storms Jesus Christ. Amen.
May you be blessed with Gods divine love, peace and joy.
