The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7
He looked somewhat disheveled, tired and was carrying a rather worn suitcase. His clothes had been through the wash a number of times, though perhaps not recently. We were both checking into a hotel at the same time.
After checking in, we walked to the elevator together. I asked him how he was doing and he said not well. He didnít appear to have a lot of education or sophistication, but appeared to be a hard worked. He said that his partner has committed suicide recently and now he was having to do all the work alone.
I picked up on the comment and asked him if he died that night did he know where he would go. With that he lit up like a light bulb, pointed up and said that yes he would go directly to be with his Lord and Savior for eternity. He was sure of his salvation and excited about it.
This man might not have had a great deal of worldly education, but he knew the most important thing anyone can know and that is a personal relationship with Jesus.
Humble, candid, teachable minds receive the word, and are made wise unto salvation. Things hidden from the wise and prudent are revealed unto babes. The persuadable grow wise.
If the majority of so-called Christians in America were true converts, this country would not be turning its back on God and heading toward a path of moral decay and destruction.
Many of these so-called Christians who have come to Jesus Christ seeking happiness and peace think they have found true religion. They believe by going to church on Sunday morning they are a good person and all think their names are recorded in the book of life. They may have joined the fellowship of the church: enjoying the music, the pot luck dinners, the softball team, the social activities, the friendship, or the fact their church is cool because they can all wear flip flops and take their skateboards to church.
The horrible truth is that these people havenít found new life in Jesus Christ! They lack genuine contrition for sin. They make a profession of faith but are deficient in biblical repentance.
Sometimes it is the most simple and uneducated who understand the Gospel message and donít let the baggage of the world get in their way. That is simple wisdom. ( a thought on life from John Grant )
