“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Hundreds of years before that day in Jerusalem when Jesus was beaten, Isaiah recorded how his face would be so disfigured and “his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance.” (Isaiah 52:14 ESV)
From the beginning God so loved the world that He was willing to give His only Son so that you might be redeemed. Do you begin to see the magnitude of a love that allowed a Son to be beaten beyond recognition and then to be nailed upon a cross?
God could see what Isaiah could not. The cross wasn’t the end. It was the means to an end. God’s final word was not death, but life.
“…Because I live, you will live also.” John 14:19 (NIV)
Can you see how committed God is to for the long haul? He knows the end from the beginning. There is nothing in your life that is beyond God’s purpose or protection. So cling to the promise of the cross knowing that it was because of His great love for you that Jesus died.
Prayer: As you begin to reflect on the Easter season, consider how great the Father’s love is for you. Dwell deeply on how He is so committed to you that He sent His Son to die on the cross.
