There is a difference between living in the past and living WITH the past. A wise person once commented that an event being experienced doesn't really mature until it is in the past being remembered. In keeping with that visualize your life as a great house with many rooms tht are not equally used but that still must be maintained. We are in that sense responsible to steward all the rooms and all and everyone that is in the rooms. When we access events and persons in the house of memory prayerfully we are cleaning and dusting the rooms and the articles in the rooms from time to time. Thus our world is much enlarged in space and time, less limited. We are centered in certain rooms but we always have the "run of the house." This is part of what is meant by "living out the larger story."
