When our mission's complete at last we'll sleep,
Time-honored promises we'll finally keep.
If we swoop down like eagles in one clean sweep
Rewards up yonder we'll surely reap
And yet even if we conquer that pinnacle so steep
Remembrance shall ever make us weep.
Whether we gather Autumn's maple leaves in a heap
While buck and doe across prairie leap
Or meditate while the village lies silent, asleep,
Servants a heavenly reward shall reap.
May your poems transcend, your sincere prayers
To heavenly destination ascend
For promises bind us to tomorrow
While wind whistles around each bend
Yet a promise fulfilled signals a happy end.
If we quiet ourselves and obey
We'll find strength to live 'today.'
While moonlight on Pacific glistens
Spellbinding upon shimmering ocean deep -
God's voice we'll hear if we but listen
Yes, His answer resounds when we listen.
When moon over remote mountain slowly creeps
A promise brings a friend you'll keep.
