1 Peter 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
Apparently Certain Congregation Elders Were Lacking In Humility. Peter Saw The Need To Remind Those Elders That:
1) He Also Was A Congreation (Church) Elder
2) Moreso He Witnessed The Sufferings Of Jesus Christ Firsthand
3) Even Moreso Elder Peter Actually Partook In The Glory Of Jesus's Coming Kingdom (Rapture) On The High Mountain (Matthew 17:1-12).

In Our Study Of 1st And 2nd Timothy And 1st Peter We've Already Learned That Any One (Especially Religiously Called Persons And Priests) Who Pursue Worldly Recognition And Earthly "Power" Are Called Foolish By God. Such Persons Knowingly Or Unknowingly Become Possessed And/Or Greatly Influenced By The Brute Beast Satan And His Demons. I Also Give Supporting Scriptures Concerning The "Fool(ish)" In The Opening Paragraphs Of This 1st Peter Chapter 5 Study. The King Of Babylon Became Such A Brute And This Is Why Peter Chose The Word "Babylon" To Describe Bishop James As Satan Walking (Creeping) Around.
Keep In Mind That Peter Made That Statement As He Advised Church Shepherds (Elders) To Do So Like Christs. Peter Also Made It Clear That He And Not These Other "Shepherds" Actually Viewed Jesus' Coming Heavenly Glory. To Be Totally Honest In My Decades Of Serving God I've Only Witnessed One Church Leader Who Eagerly Asked For And Performed Assigments Which Were Usually Alotted To The "Lower" Staff. I've Also Learned That Most Christians Want To Serve And Obey God But Their Leading Shepherds Selfishing Use These Sheep For Their Own "Wealth And 'Riches'". God Is Aware Of These False Shepherds And Will Address The Sheep Himself (Matthew 9:36; Ezekiel 34:1-20).
We Christians Must Always Pray That God's Holy Spirit Shepherds Us Because "Man (Humans)" Will Always Fail Us (Psalm 146:3-10).

Human Leaders (Princes) Will Fade Away. Yet Our Chief Shepherd Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ Will Soon Appear To Rapture Us. Our Kingdom Crowns And Glory Will Never Fade Away. Praise God!!! (John 3:16; 1 John 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17).
1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
No Matter How You Personally Feel If You Humbly Obey The Lord He Will Lift You Up In Honor. God Despises The Proud, Haughty, Argumentative And Arrogant (James 4:1-12; Isaiah 14:1-32; Judge 9).
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Christians Must Be Serious (Sober) And Vigilant (Actively Determined) About Obeying God And Walking In The Spirit (John 3:1-8; John 4:24; Galatians 5:1-26).
Satan Is Our Enemy (Adversary).
Jesus Defeated Satan And Took All His Authority At The Cross. Yet Satan Will "Roar" Attempting To Pull Christians Back Into The Flesh (Swallow, Devour) (Matthew 13:1-25; Matthew 4:1-11; Genesis 3:1-15).
Whatever God Allows Satan To Tempt Or Try Us With We Must Realize That We Are Not Alone Nor Is This Situation "Too Extreme" Or "Unique". Any One Attempting To Obey God's Word And Jesus Will Be Attacked By The Devil's Kingdom (2 Timothy 3:12).
I've Learned To Surrender To Jesus And Walk In The Spirit. I Don't Worry. I Let Jesus Deal With Satan's Missiles (Philippians 4:6-8; 2 Corinthians 10:1-12; Ephesians 6:10-18; Psalm 91:1-16; Psalm 55:22; Matthew 6:25-34; Matthew 11:28-30).
1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].
Whether It Be The Great Tribulation For Disobedient Christians Or Just Tribulations In General Jesus Will Come To Deliver Us When We Repent And Obey His Word (Matthew 25:1-12; Matthew 14:20-33; Matthew 9:9-13).
