“So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:7
Some time ago I took the opportunity to see the movie “The Lion King”. One of the pieces of advice given to Simba the lion cub was, “Don’t forget who you are”.
It is also good advice for Christians. The Bible tells us we are children of God and co-heirs with Christ. Even on the days when we don’t feel like it or act like it, we are still His children. Selwyn Hughes made the comment in Every Day With Jesus that, “Spiritual poise comes from living by what I know about God, not by what I feel about Him or about myself and my circumstances”. Living by faith involves believing God even when we don’t feel like it.
We know from the above verse and others how God sees us, but do we believe it? The devil would try to convince us otherwise and tell us we are unacceptable and unlovable. But the choice is ours as to whom we believe.
Simba, in the Lion King, was the king’s son even when he believed his wicked uncle lies and ran away. Eventually Simba remembered who he was and returned to assume the privileges and responsibilities of kingship.
How much more awesome is the privilege we have of being sons and daughters, not of an earthly king, but of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
Good morning sister.
I like to start my morning with Good morning Father, I love you and thank you for loving me. The day is ended with a differant version of the same prayer.
It is a great way to begin and end our day.
God bless you.
