When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Psalms 32:3-4 New International Version
This is what David wrote after he had an affair with a married woman and had her husband killed. He refused to admit he did anything wrong.
He was very sad and could not sleep.
One thing I have noticed is whenever someone informs me that they have insomnia or nightmares, most of the time it is because they have done something wrong and not made it right. As they get older, they become sadder and sadder and have more problems getting to sleep and always have nightmares. They start to have health problems like heart problems and ulcers.
For example, say you cheated on a test or lied about someone that will eat at your mind making sleep impossible or to have nightmares. Yes you may have to pay the price like fail the test when you confess but it will do you good for your conscience.
God will not be angry with you when you admit you did wrong and make it right. Think of the prodigal son. The Father ran to him and hugged him. So too will God when you confess and make things right. Sometimes you may need to ask God for strength to apologize. Don’t worry, He will help you.
People who have righted their wrong have no problems with their sleep. Joseph- Anthony: Green
Prayer: Jehovah Ropheka (God our healer) I confess I have done ______ (fill in the blank with what you have done wrong).
Please show me the way and give me the opportunity, wisdom and strength to make it right. I know this will heal both the heart of the one I did wrong to and my heart.
I ask in the name of He who taught us to confess our sins Jesus Christ. Amen.
May you be blessed with love, peace and joy.
