To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1;
Life is in phases, and men are in sizes, so goes the popular saying! There are different phases in manís life; each of these phases has its peculiar features and characteristics. No matter how interesting a particular phase of a manís life may be, he cannot afford to stay in that phase forever; progressive movement to the next level is expected for everyone who wants to remain relevant in the scheme of things. God has a program for our lives as individuals, and this program is designed in such a way that one phase of life is meant to perfectly connect and lead us to another as we move in the path of fulfillment of our purpose on earth. For everyone who is conscious of and interested in fulfillment of Godís divine purpose in life, discovering and moving to the next level should be the strongest desire.
Moving to the next level usually begins with the end of a phase; except an era comes to an end, a new one cannot begin! Without breaking away from the past, itís not possible for you to move to the next level. For some people, the end of an era may be a painful experience, especially where their present locations appear to be comfort zones. Itís worth mentioning that most times when God wants to move men to their next levels, He normally uproots them from their comfort zones! When God wanted to start a new generation of people He could call His own through Abram (later renamed Abraham), He uprooted him from the land of Ur of Chaldeans. Abraham was very comfortable and contented in the land of Ur, but if he remained there and refused to depart as God commanded him, he would have disqualified himself from Godís eternal plan and purpose! The comforts of your present location might be the very snares holding you down from moving to the next phase in the program of God for your life, be careful, a comfort zone may be a danger zone!
Moving to the next level requires radical decisions! The steps which bring about significant progress in life essentially begin with painful decisions. This is where majority fail! Many people are fully aware of the need to make some radical decisions in order to move forward in life, but theyíre not just willing to take those decisions. Truth is, thereís no way you can shy away from making some hard decisions and still expect to move to the next level. In order to move forward, some hard decisions to be made by some people, may be that of giving up life of sin and turning to God completely; for others, it might be opting out of ungodly relationships and association with people they call friends, but who in actual fact drag them down into destruction! The scripture talks about the radical decision Moses made in order to step into the next phase in fulfillment of Godís purpose for his life. Hebrew 11:24-25 says ĎBy faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaohís daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a seasoní. When Moses realized that his continual attachment to Egypt and Pharaoh would rob him of his eternal portion in the plans of God, he took a radical decision, he gave up all the privileges, wealth, honour and royalties he was entitled to in Egypt. That singular decision that led Moses into the next phase was indeed a painful one, but he took it!
Itís also important to mention that preparation is a key requirement for moving to the next level. God hardly lifts a man to a level for which the man has not submitted himself for preparations! Without necessary preparations, you may not be found fit to move to the next phase; preparation is what positions you for the next level! For instance if your desire is to move to the next level in your career, part of the preparations you require is to pursue necessary academic and professional qualifications or certifications which will package you for better opportunities in the market place. Has God shown you vision of greatness in life, ministry, career or business? The only way to attain it is to deliberately submit yourself to seasons of rigorous preparations. Preparation is very important to God. Can you imagine, it took Jesus Christ thirty years to prepare for a-three and a half year ministry; it took Moses eighty years to prepare for a forty-year ministry; it took Joseph thirty years to prepare for the seat of Egypt Prime Minister; it took David thirty years to prepare for the throne; it took Elisha many silent years to prepare as Elijahís successor; it took Apostle Paul fourteen years of rigorous preparations to step into the ministry! Moving into the next phase of Godís purpose for your life requires preparations on your part, you canít stumble into it!
In addition, the book of Luke 5:37-38 says ĎAnd no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preservedí. Moving to the next level requires that you develop a completely new mindset and detach yourself from traditions. Many people are so used to their old ways and traditions that they become insensitive even when the Almighty God is trying to move them forward into something new -a higher calling. You must open your heart and also be flexible in Godís hands if you want Him to move you to the next level. Sometimes, Godís way of lifting you into the next phase in fulfillment of His purpose for your life may be by prompting you to accept a role you consider ignoble or not dignifying enough for somebody like you! Remember, the way up is down!
Finally, there comes a time in everybodyís life that we need to break away from the past and launch into the next phase in Godís program and scheme of things. This year might just be that significant year youíve been waiting for depending on what you choose to do with yourself. Itís not Godís desire that you remain grounded where you are; life becomes beautiful only when you progressively move up in fulfillment of Godís purpose for your life. Desire it, prepare for it; move up to the next level!
