Now don't get me wrong the United Way is a great organization and they do what every person knows in their heart ought to be done. Every Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness, every other person with every other belief about God including atheists. We all know what we ought to do. This is due to the essential requirements of the law being written on every person’s heart. The truth is doing good is very basic and we do not need the Bible to what to do. Every person who claims Christ knew right from wrong a long time before they were willing to admit their failures and seek Jesus as their Savior.
So now we have a non-believer who is seeking to find out about God. He decides to follow around an Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness and atheist one at a time to see who has the truth. He gets lucky and finds the best of the best. Every person he picks is highly attuned to their conscience and listens. Some lead worldwide charities like United Way and others meditate and are overflowing with peace. Some have huge smiles and warm hearts. Every one of them wants to be his friend.
When he is done he realizes his dilemma. He also notices that all of these beliefs teach some very good things about our relationship to one another. So who has the truth is the question? The only answer he can come up with is to be good so he concludes that he must be at least as good as those he followed for the week.
He concludes it is about getting along and believing whatever you want. His decision is to get a bumper sticker that says CO-EXIST. You know the one with all of the religious symbols directed at those hostile religious people. He has found some truth.
Why didn't the model behavior of the Christian lead him to Jesus? What do you think the Christian failed to do? Was the failure because the Christian just wasn't good enough, didn't have a big enough smile or wasn't peaceful enough?
What do you think?
