Rode many storms upon the ocean
So many battles fought and won
Now I am adrift, battered, and tossed
My sails are torn and my bearing lost
My boat is taking on so much water
The sun seems to be burning hotter
But this is not where my story ends
No! This is where a new story begins
My vessel may be surrounded by fins
The hungry sharks are circling closer in
But there is something over the horizon
It is the sound of hope rising
Beyond my view there is something there
Someone who will help this burden bear
He hasn't and never will forsaken me
He knows my soul’s deepest need
Even though the skies are turning dark
And these waters are full of sharks
My salvation comes with the rising sun
For Jesus Christ will soon come
Through pride and sin I have strayed
But He is faithful and He has saved
Me even when I am deeply lost
On my boat leaking and storm tossed
A sailor lost in this foreign world
The enemies fiery dart at me are hurled
But my shield of faith will quench the fire
Through it all, He is still my One Desire
Even though my faith is a little rattled
And I’ve been knocked down in battle
When having done all I can, now I stand
And reach out for His helping hand
His voice calms the stormy seas
He hears my soul’s crying pleas
“Peace”, He says unto me, “Be still”
And the raging storm does His will
It is here upon these rough seas
That I remember to fall to my knees
With my heart and soul I cry out
For my Redeemer, my Blessed Fount
Forgive me is my heart’s only plea
I have sinned and fallen short of thee
Wash me once again in Your Blood
Let Your spirit flow through me like a flood
By Your grace alone I am saved
Free from that which has enslaved
Seas will rage and rains will still fall
And I will cling to Jesus through it all

My dear brother, what can I SAY But "Praise the Lord!" I believe many hearts will be blessed by this poem. Vince and I read it and can associate with it so well. We've got a friend who is in a similar storm right now and you have penned the very words that I believe God will use to start the process of healing. Thank you for your obedience in writing and posting this poem. I can see the story of the lost coin in this picture...It's time for rejoicing! Reading your poem I could also picture Ephesians chapter 6 (putting on the whole armour of God). Thank you for sharing this brilliantly written piece. Vince's comments are: "Encouraging, tense and thrilling." I can't wait to read your next piece. Love and blessings! Jan.
