When I was a child, a ticket to the circus meant adventure. Skilled animal trainers bravely controlled lions and tigers; humongous elephants did amazing tricks and trapeze artists mesmerized craning neck crowds. Lest I forget the clowns, they made us laugh.
Were the clowns all happy? “Even in laughter a heart may be sad, and joy may end in grief (Proverbs 14:13 HCS).” Clowns can hide broken hearts from us and cover tears with face paint. Yet, they do not hide from God; He knows and one day he will wipe away their tears.
