With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. James 3:9 New International Version
We need to be careful what we say to people today. It can and many times does have long term effect on people.
For example, we will say there is a mother or father who always criticizes their children. It is never good enough for them, the children are failures. When those children become adults, every time they try something those harsh, cruel words of their parents will come back to haunt them.
In my childhood I was considered a weakling and doomed to a miserable life by many of my peers, especially in the family.
When I was a young man, just as I was on the edge of succeeding at school, those condemning, mocking words came back to haunt me. I wanted to quit.
Thankfully, through prayer God blessed me with the strength and courage to continue on to success.
When I was an English teacher and a student tried to say a word but failed I would give them a big hug and tell them I was proud of them.
They would be confused but would be told I was proud of them because they tried. You are not always going to succeed in life but it is important that you always try your hardest.
Those children loved their teacher and worked their hearts out for me. We had great classes and they loved to come to class.
I pray they will carry that with them all of their lives and teach their children what they learned from me. That was perhaps the most important I wanted them to learn and never forget.
So be careful what you say to others today. It may haunt them for years to come.
“Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 New International Version
Why not make it a practice to say something positive and encouraging to just one person every day.
A simple word of encouragement can make a person’s day go from dark and gloomy to full of sunshine.
I love to see the look on peoples faces when I say something encouraging and positive to them. It really makes their day.
Then as time goes by and it becomes easier ask God to open your eyes to be an encourager to everybody around you.
Maybe some people will think you are crazy but I know from my experience it will be the best praise you can give God through out the day.
You want to know another benefit of being an encourager?
You will find your life to be much happier.
Prayer: Please Jehovah Chanan (God is gracious) guide my words to be those that encourage today. I ask in the name of the greatest encourager Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sweet sunshine of Jesus' precious love bless you today and every day.
