“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 New International Version.
Following the Lords calling I went to another country to teach. The employers were very bad. They would cheat me out of my wages. When I refused to teach until paid, they threatened to have the police throw me into jail and beat me until I agreed to go back. I was afraid.
In my own country if an employer cheated me I could use the law to fight and win, but this was a complete different place.
Of course there was a lot of fear but the Spirit of God softly whispered: “Do not be afraid. I am here.” It was the first time I had to depend upon God instead of myself. Mysteriously the federal police came to town looking just for me and escorted me out of town safely.
It took me four years of living dangerously like that for the Lord to teach me to rely upon Him and crucify me independence. Yeah, it was scary, but boy am I glad of the lesson learned and the blessing given.
So if you are going through some scary times, do not be afraid. Take it to Jesus and ask Him to give you the strength to have faith in Him. He will do it. He has done it so many times in my life.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus Immanuel for walking with me through the many dangers, toils and snares of life. I give thanks in Your reassuring name. Amen.
May the sweet sunshine of Jesus' precious love bless you today and every day.
