Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord:
Hezekiah sought the Lord before answering Assyria’s threats either with action or word. Hezekiah acknowledged God as the only God among the wooden and stone gods of the cities of Judah that were destroyed.
He asked for deliverance from Assyria so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that He alone is God. Hezekiah asked for God’s glory instead of His own.
How many of us can say we follow Hezekiah’s example? This should be the way we as Christians live. We should put everything before God just as Hezekiah did.
When I am having problems at work, I need to tell God. When I want to eat a doughnut to deal with stress, I need to pray and ask for God’s glory to be shown in the situation. Whatever problem I am having in my life, I need to remember God wants me to talk to Him about it. He not only wants me to talk to Him about my problems, He wants me to be willing for the situation to be used for His honor alone.
God delights when His children are in constant conversation with Him. No detail in our lives is too trivial to put before the Lord and pray about. Hezekiah did not hesitate to let God know of the troubles in his life. Hezekiah realized God is the answer to our problems. Whenever we have problems, we need to pray but not just for the problem to go away. We need to pray knowing God is the one true God and ask that any situation that we are perplexed about be used by God so that the unbelievers in our lives may be pointed to our wonderful God.
Prayer:
Father, during my trials in this life, help me to turn to you for the solution. Lord, help me be willing for the problems in my life to be used by you so that others may know of your greatness.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
