Sunday 2/10/13 Pastor Michael sermon: Supernatural Provisions- Go Get Your Blessing Because Its Your Time! I Kings 17:1-16
God will give us supernatural provisions; go get your blessing. God wants us blessed but there is a formula for the blessing. If we do “this” then God will do “that”. Jesus said He came to give us life and more abundantly. The Blessed Life. God told Abraham that He would bless him and make him a blessing to others. When God told Abraham this it was when he had no children. So, God had to do a supernatural thing to make old Abraham and Sarah able to give birth.
God will come in on our natural existence and put his super on or natural to make things happen supernaturally in our lives. God is a supernatural God. He came in and created the earth and the stars supernaturally. In the story of Noah, God flooded the earth supernaturally and saved Noah in the ark supernaturally. In Joshua 10:13 Joshua need more light to fight against the enemy. God supernaturally made the sun stay up and it stayed light longer so the enemy could be defeated. And in the light, everyone would see it.
In our text, God told Elijah not to worry about how he would be taken care of during the famine in the land. God said He is the God that always shows up to help us. He steps in and does what only He can do. There is no question about who helped us. This is when all things have failed and we have no money and no friends to help. God steps in and shows up right on time! At the 12th hour! In the midst of our mess!
***How to Live Under Supernatural Provisions***
1) Obedient Living:
You cannot do life your way and have supernatural provisions. Sometimes God will take us away from the familiar to get us out on nothing. This is so He can step in, move in and save us. God works for us but we have to lose our control over things and let Him take control. God wants us to change based on Him not on us doing us. We are to do what God tells us to do, like He says to do it. Why? Because we know doing it our way doesn’t work! God is in the business of showing up when it is chaotic, when stuff just doesn’t make sense. Life is in a mess and God is ready to show up and fix it.
Verse 2-3 God told Elijah to get up and go. He went where God told him to go. We need to stop acting like we know what’s going on. We need to just do what God says, no matter what we don’t understand. Forget what others will say. “They” did not wake you up this morning , “they” haven’t put money in your bank account, so tell them where “they” can go. Forget about them and listen to God and what
God says to do.
2) Have a Reliant Living-Reliance on God:
Elijah was fed by the birds. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening. Elijah also drank from the brook. The miracle is also that ravens eat meat themselves but instead they gave the meat to Elijah. The Bible doesn’t say that Elijah prepared the meat before eating it. The ravens brought him cooked meat that he put between the bread and ate sandwiches. Some Bible scholars believe the ravens brought the cooked meat from King Ahab’s table to Elijah. They brought his enemy’s food to him. “The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just”.
God will use unorthodox ways. People who can’t stand you will put money in your hands. God will command your enemies to bless you! It’s My Time! We all need to go get our blessing! Anybody in this place, determined that this is your time? Go get it! It’s your season! Tell God you are ready! Give God
Praise on credit for what He is going to do!
3) Know It Is God Blessing Us:
The brook dried us and God told Elijah to go to the widow woman. Sometimes God lets the place that is
providing for us to dry up. This is so we know that it is not the place but the provider-God, who is blessing us.
Verse 12-13 When Elijah asked the widow for water and bread, he told her not to fear. He said to give to him first. First. God cannot give to us until He gets something from us. Release what is in our hand so He can release what is in his hand. God wants us to have good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. The Bible says the widow woman ate of the flour and oil many days! Many Days!!
God is getting ready to provide for us MANY DAYS!!
