Dear Heavenly Father, Today we Americans are a troubled people. This great nation that we love so dearly has lost its way. From a foundation based upon love of God, hard work, individualism, courage, and freedom, we have descended into the depths of depravity, laziness, instant gratification, and, I fear, the substitution of worship of the almighty dollar for worship of Thee, the Almighty God. This transition hasn’t happened overnight, Father, but through an extended period of time with the creeping influence of Satan’s temptations to weak men, including corruption in business, government and the legal system; a politically correct, rather than honest, educational system; and moral relativism. It’s as if what was right is now wrong and what was wrong is now right.
Oh, God, not everyone has succumbed to these evil doings. There are a large number of us who still see Thee as the Father of us all and Thy Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior. But even many in the modern Christian Church have accepted a philosophy which allows for variations to Thy Holy Word and Thy Commandments. The absolutes of Thy Law have been excused away as being outdated and no longer relevant. This has caused much strife within the Church community with many breaking away to form new groups holding to the literal word of the Bible. The gap of differences created from this split is large and continuing to grow.
Our government no longer recognizes Thy divine power and is often severely divided in ways which adds to strife, animosity, and even hatred. This same government routinely violates our Constitution which is based upon Thy Laws and the rights that were granted us not by governments, but by Thee. It even creates money out of thin air with nothing to back it up. I fear, Oh Father, as do many of my American brothers and sisters that this once great land is on the brink of self-destruction. A nation founded on Thy word, and one which served as the beacon of light and hope for freedom on behalf of the entire world will, if lost, be gone forever.
Lord, I humbly beseech Thee to help us as a nation to see the Truth and the Light, to once again recognize Thee as the one and only God, and to have the courage and resolve to stand up to those who would want this nation to fail. Give us the strength that the early Christian martyrs once displayed to fight for a return of the America we knew, the one which served as the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave for many generations. We know the struggle will be long, costly, and dangerous, but we also know that with Thy guidance and favor we can and will prevail.
Thank you, Lord, for hearing this prayer, and we will try our utmost to stand up for Thee in worship, prayer and action throughout our struggle and forever more. We ask this prayer in the name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, who through His grace gave us the gift of eternal life, Amen.
