1 Timothy 5: 1-25: Sinners And Schemers Can Not Deceive God

1 Timothy 5:1-25 Sets Straight Any Persons Who Are Manipulative Or Sin Inclined. This Article Will Examine 1 Timothy 5 Verse By Verse.

Let's Bein With 1 Timothy 5:1

1 Timothy 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat [him] as a father; [and] the younger men as brethren;

Paul Advised Christians To View Each Other As Family. Elders Should Be Intreated As A Father. Younger Men Are To Be Treated As A Brethen (Brothers).

1 Timothy 5:2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

The Elder (Possibly Elderly) Women Are To Be Intreated As Mothers. There Should Be No Inappropriate Actions (Or Thoughts Matthew 5:28) Toward A Younger Women. Paul Advises Christians To Treat Younger Women As Sisters.

1 Timothy 5:3 Honour widows that are widows indeed. 1 Timothy 5:4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. 1 Timothy 5:5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. 1 Timothy 5:7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

The Bible's God Always Commanded The Community To Care For Widows And The Fatherless (Exodus 22:22). Paul Warned That These "Widows" Must Indeed Be Widows. They Could Not Be Persons Attempting To Take Advantage Of The Church. A Widow Who Had Family Was Advised To Seek Help From Her Relatives. Paul Exerted That Relatives Who Shun Caring For Their Own Are Dispeasing To God.

A Christian Widow Must Be A Woman Of God. She Must Also Be "Desolate" (In Dire Need Of Help). On Top Of These Requirements She Must Continue In Godly Trust, Supplications And Prayers "Night And Day". Christianity Was Never Meant To Be A Social Club Or A Catch Phrase As It Is Today.

Paul Warned That If A Christian Still Pursue Sinful Pleasure That Person Was Spiritually Dead Before God (Genesis 3:1-15; John 3:16).
Only Christians Who Heed Paul's Advisory Would Be Blameless Before God.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Paul Exhorted That Any Christian Who Refused To Assist His Family Or Blood Relatives Was "Worst Than The Ungodly (Infidel)". A Christians Who Does Not Love His Or Her Own Brother Or Sister Is A Liar (1 John 3:11-17; 1 John 4:7-8, 11, 20-21).

1 Timothy 5:9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,

1 Timothy 5:10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

1 Timothy 5:11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry; 1 Timothy 5:12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

1 Timothy 5:13 And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

Under Paul's Advisory A Person Under 60 Years Old Could Not Apply For "Widow Assistance". A Person Who Had More Than One Marriage Was Also Denied "Widow Assistance" (Matthew 19:9).

A Person Applying For "Widow Assistance" Must Also Have A Christian Reptutation Of Selfless And Godly Actions. This Is Her Ministry.

Paul Advised That Assisting A Younger Widow Would Spiritually "Hurt" Her. Such Christian Love Would Incite Her To Selfishness. She Would Eventually "Cast Off" This Christian Love And Pursue Her Own Desires. She Would Also Have "Much Time On Her Hands". This Might Lead To Her Becoming Involved In Other's Affairs And Being Idle (Not Enhancing Her Christian Gifts Or Ministry).

God Hates Gossippers, Tattlers, And Busy Bodies Who Mind Other People's Business (Proberbs 6:16-20).

1 Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 1 Timothy 5:15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.

1 Timothy 5:16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

In Light Of What Paul Said At 1 Corinthians 7:20-36 It Is Strange That He Is Now Advising Marriage For Younger Women.

Possibly Something Had Led Paul To Conclude That Marriage And Children Kept The Parent Busy. That Way They Would Have No Time To Incur Blame Or Reproach. These Are Things Of Satan The Devil.

Paul Once Again Exhorted That Families And Not The Corporate Church Are Responsible For "Widow Assistance". Individual Church Members Could Lovingly Help Their Christian Sister (Or Brother) (Leviticus 22:22; John 13:34-35).

1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.

Paul Reminded The Church That Spiritual Elders Are Worthy Of Double Honor And "Rewards (Gifts)" From Christians. Especially If These Christian Men Stayed Faithful To God's Word And Doctrines.

1 Timothy 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 1 Timothy 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

Paul Advised That No Accusation Against An Elder Could Be Considered Without Two Or Three Eye Witnesses. Anyone Who Sinned Was To Be Rebuked Before The Congregation.

1 Timothy 5:21 I charge [thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

All Of God's Word Is True And Beneficial. No Human Is Allowed To Pick And Choose What They Will And Will Not Obey (John 17:17; Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16; John 13:10-15).

1 Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

Paul Advised Church Leaders To Ensure That A Person Was Worthy Of Receiving God's Gifts Through The Laying On Of Hands. Modern Christians Run Around Laying Hands On Everyone. Yet Paul Advised That The "Laying On" Of Hands (Especially For Church Positions) Was Only For Those Who Sincerely Obeyed Jesus Christ. Christian Purity Can Only Be Maintained When Such Discerning Patience Is Implemented.

1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

This Particular Church Had Experienced "Often (Frequent) Infirmities". Thus Paul Advised A "Little (Not Alot)" Wine To Ease Stomach Pains.

1 Timothy 5:24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some [men] they follow after. 1 Timothy 5:25 Likewise also the good works [of some] are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

Paul Also Warned The Church Not To Worry About The Sins Of Others. God Was In Control And He Would Reward Each Person Their Due In His Due Time.

1 Timothy Chapter 5 Is A Reality Check For Those Who Think They Can Mislead Others And Hide Their Sins From God.
