Enduring the storms of life
Trying to find your way in the blinding rain of life's storms can be very discouraging at times. Enduring a storm life brings means sometimes we have to weather difficult times. Sometimes the storm is so massive we cannot fathom how we'll ever survive the experience.
In these storms, we often find ourselves losing hope and wanting to give up. Some become so distraught they walk away from all responsibilities and try to disappear, another casualty of life's brutality.
The storms of life can appear on the horizon of our lives without a moment's notice leaving us trembling in their wake. Leaving huge swaths of destruction as they scream through our lives.
The devastation left behind is not unlike a war zone, with the same deadly results as one. They can bring utter chaos so is it any wonder, there's so many people that are walking wounded as a result of life's storms?
When the storm clouds start forming overhead, and the rain begins to pour down on you don't lose hope! God has instilled in each of us the ability to rise above any storm that life brings our way. He has placed in each of us the measure of faith, and it's up to us to strengthen and nurture that seed.
It's through faith that God works in our lives and when storms come it is no different. It's through faith, we can do things our minds can't comprehend ever happening.
The word of God says faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God. That's how we build our faith, continual hearing of the word of God. Then when the storm comes we'll be able to withstand it and endure. We'll not necessarily like the storm, but we'll know that God is working in our lives through it.
The storms will show us several things about our life when they come. These things are the level of our faith, and strength of commitment. The level of our maturity, how teachable we are, and what kind of attitude we have.
It's difficult remembering to pay attention to your attitude and maturity when you find yourself facing something that can be life altering. Isn't it bad enough that we have a hurricane strength storm in our lives, then we have to try to keep a good attitude? That's nearly an impossible feat when we're facing something sure to bring pain into our lives.
Having a bad attitude can affect how you view the outcome of the storm you're in. Our teachability is reduced when we fail to keep a humble heart and God wants to mold us even in the midst of a storm.
It's not the right of the clay to demand from the potter to be molded a certain way. The master craftsman seeks to turn us into the very image of Christ. Therefore, he shapes and molds as he sees fit and as he desires.
God is looking to build men and women of strong character that can endure any storm life brings. He needs strong leaders to guide others during their storms, to be lighthouses guiding them into the harbor of safety.
God has given us the authority to take command of any situation. With boldness and confidence we can face the worst storm knowing that our God is bigger than any storm life can throw at us.
In order to rise above the storm we must rely on him first. We have to have the right attitude. Our level of faith must be one of expectation.
We must be willing to be teachable; our commitment must be firm. Lastly, we must have a level of maturity to learn the lesson in the midst of the storm. Then we're ready to endure any storm that comes our way.

Nice article. I especially liked what you said about how being humble makes a person more teachable.
