Today I met a dry alcoholic
Without something for which he longed,
It wasn't money or things he wished
For he had lost his song.
He said that he believes in Christ
More than anything,
But he didn't want to go to church
"with all that rubbish they sing".
"I just want to talk about my stuff
I don't even need to belong",
He didn't realize how he sounds
Because he had lost his song.
You can know Jesus in your head
With knowledge clever and strong,
But if your spirit hasn't come alive
You'll never have a song.
"Singings not for me" he said
With lifting hands so long,
"leave that to everyone else" he said
See, he had lost his song.
Singing to God isn't from the mind
But even then it isn't wrong,
But if you've lost your desire to sing
It's because you've lost your song.
Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, sing a song ! (Judges 5:12 NKJV)
