James 4:14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. (New American Standard Bible)
The car was covered in frost but not the kind one would normally consider frost. This frost was different...
I could tell that there must have been individual droplets of water on the glass before it had frozen. And when it did so, it left me the ability to see around each frozen flake but not through them. The best part was that I could see how each of the crystallized drops had formed and every one was different. It was like looking up close at a hundred different snowflakes at one time.
As I sat staring, observing each one like they were a super natural phenomenon, I began to think about the creativity of our GOD. These frozen droplets, were so amazingly complicated yet incredibly beautiful. They were strong enough to obscure my view of the outside world yet delicate in every way.
Almost regrettably, I turned on the defrost. As it began to heat up the windshield, each 'frosted flake' began to melt. As they did, I saw what looked like a bunch of popping on the windows. I quickly realized that I was actually watching each individual flake turn back into water against the glass. As the process continued, the water eventually evaporated and all that was left was a light residue where the drops had once been....
I then, thought about the life of every human being. We are at the least, delicate, beautiful, complicated creatures made by GOD. Our Heavenly FATHER sent HIS SON JESUS, HIS HOLY SPIRIT and HIS Word to us, HIS beloved children. Through faith in CHRIST, the HOLY SPIRIT's power is released into our lives, and we, much like those flakes of frost, are softened and changed. Throughout the process, we are given the ability to be a blessing to others, just as that frost had now become a blessing to me. Then, when it's time, our existence comes to end, and we leave this world in a vapor. All that's left behind is a residue of our life here on earth. I can't help but wonder...
What will my residue look like?
