My grace is sufficient for you; for My strength is made perfect in weakness
II Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
Those who know me know that I enjoy collecting funny or unusual sayings and comic strips. The comic strip I have taped to my computer table is the one in which Pogo, the opossum, says; “We have met the enemy and he is us!” increasingly, as I make my way through society and people, I find so often that Pogo is absolutely right! The other day while removing the remnants of my trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, I slammed the car door on my pinky finger. OUCH!
My first reaction was to say, “Lord, why didn’t you protect me. Now my smallest finger is hurting and swelling. I will be reminded of my carelessness for this day and possibly for a couple of days thereafter.
But then I looked at Pogo and his message once again. If I’d been a little cautious and patient this never would have happened. Surely, the Lord should not always be expected to save me/us from our own carelessness, even though He often does. The Lord has endowed me/us with marvelous gifts—a mind and free will (the ability to make choices). I should use them and quit blaming God for my lack of motivation, patience and good sense!
Prayer: Father help me from being and becoming my own worst enemy!
Thought for the Day: Take responsibility for your actions and failures!
