“Waste not, want not.” Mothers and grandmothers of years gone by told their young-uns’ to clear their plates. The wise and thrifty women followed their own advice. After the family finished the meal, the apron-clad ladies cleared the tables, stacked the dishes, and filled the wash pan with sudsy water. Before rolling up their sleeves, they stored all leftovers for later meals.
“After commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground, He took the seven loaves and the fish, and He gave thanks, broke them, and kept on giving them to the disciples, and the disciples [gave them] to the crowds. They all ate and were filled. Then they collected the leftover pieces-seven large baskets full (Matthew 15:35-36 HCS).”
