Jesus said to Peter "who do you they say I am ?"
Peter said "some say you're Jeremiah,
Some say you're John the Baptist,
Some say you're just a carpenter,
Other say that You are the prophet Elijah".
Jesus said to Peter "but who do you say I am ?"
He replied from knowledge not received by works,
He said "you are the Christ,
The Son of the Living God",
Jesus said "now I can build my church".
Jesus said to Peter "now you've got this revelation
Now you know the place where life starts,
You see just who I AM,
So now I call your name
And now I can define just who you are.
Jesus says to us now "this is who you are
Change your mind to these things that you see,
You are accepted and a son,
And a brand new creation,
Righteous and you are complete in me".
Matthew 16:13 "Who do men say that the Son of Man is? 14 And they said, Some, indeed, John the Baptizer, but others, Elijah, and still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. 15 He says to them, But as for you, who do you say that I am? 16 And answering, Simon Peter said, As for you, you are the Christ, the Son of God, the living God. 17 And answering, Jesus said to him, Spiritually prosperous are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you but my Father who is in heaven. 18 Moreover, as for myself, I also am saying to you, You are Rock [ petros, masculine in gender, a detached but large fragment of rock], and upon this massive rock [ petra, feminine in gender, feminine demonstrative pronoun cannot go back to masculine petros; petra, a rocky peak, a massive rock] I will build my Church. And the councils of the unseen world shall not overpower it." (Wuest version)
