I’m amazed at the Teachings that Jesus shared on the Mount. Jesus was direct, straight-forward, and revitalizing when it came to the Topic of God being Our Heavenly Father who is fully aware of our issues, our hang-ups, our deepest concern and of course our worries. I’m sure that the people of that era was equally amazed and in shock that the God of Israel who did away with the rebels in the wilderness, and didn’t allow Moses to enter the Promise Land is truly concern about their daily worries and legitimate concerns.
1. Don’t worry about—our life, what we will eat, what we will drink, what we will wear (Matthew 6:25 NKJV)
2. By worrying we cannot add any height to our size (Matthew 6:27 NKJV)
3. Jesus said, Your Heavenly Father feeds the birds of the air, clothes the field with grass and beautiful lilies (Matthew 6:28-30 NKJV) So, obviously He can provide clothing for us—O you of little faith (Matthew 6:30 NKJV)
4. Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For Your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things (Matthew 6:31-32 NKJV)
I Can’t Help But Worry
To someone whose house has been swept away by Hurricane Sandy or who is on the street looking for their next meal in the trash can and those who are suffering right now this may not go over well with them. This may not capture the attention of the less fortunate. This message may not appeal to those who are unemployed and have been out of work for several months unable to land a gig. Yes, the present realities may take-over our hope, our faith and our trust in a God that so many speak about who is a provider.
If God is a provider…why am I hungry…why don’t I have a job…why haven’t I found a job…why is it that I’m suffering while everyone else is doing good…They have food, clothing and shelter…They have a job and a good family…They seem to be living great lives when I’m walking by with holes in my sneakers and they have on $200 dollar Jordan’s Basketball sneakers on. This is so unfair… I want to work…I want to buy the same sneakers or something of equal value…Why do my children have to suffer when these preachers on T.V. talk about prosperity but they don’t know my dilemma.
The questions are many…the injustice and unfairness in this society are plenty…the Government has no answers or solutions…and the financial system is not design to help us but to keep us in-debt! This is the truth! So how are we to experience the blessings of God? How will Our Heavenly Father who knows our dilemma help us? Jesus said, Don’t Worry about the food, shelter and clothing because the Gentiles seek after these things (Matthew 6:31-32 NKJV). However, Your Heavenly Father Knows that you need all these things (Matthew 6:32 NKJV).
Your Heavenly Father Knows…He knows that you are hungry…He knows that you don’t have your own apartment or home…He knows that you’ve been unemployed and that you went on countless interviews for employment but you did not land a gig…He knows that you lost hope and you are doing things that He may not be happy about in order to make ends meet…you need to feed yourself you say…you need to feed your family…you got to get by even if it’s not the godly approach on doing it.
I’m not here to criticize or judge you…I’m not a Preacher or Teacher that’s here to point out your sin…I’m a man like you I struggle and I’ve been laid-off for several months and my wife was stressed out when she had to pay the bills alone. I feel your pain and your desire to come out of debt, out of poverty, out of lack and once again get on your feet. But in order for us to do so we need to take this message that Jesus is teaching to heart and begin to position ourselves to experience HIS Divine blessings.
The Key to All these Things
Jesus gave us a SPIRITUAL KEY that will access God’s Blessing into our lives. Jesus said, but seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL THESE THINGS shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)
The principles of the Kingdom of God are different from the financial system of this world. This means we need to educate ourselves little by little until we get a hold of enough TRUTH in God’s Word that will point us in the direction of financial success and stability.
1. We must seek God—we seek God by Praying and making our request to Him. Since He knows our problems and issues we must be wise I our request in Prayer by saying, Father you know I’m hungry, in need of clothing and shelter I ask that You will grant me wisdom to be sensitive on how You will provide these things to me, in Jesus’ name.
2. We must seek His Righteousness—we seek His righteousness when we decide to do things His way (that means, don’t steal, sell drugs, rob a bank, work in the strip club, burglarize a home or a business to satisfy your temporary financial set-back). Seeking His righteousness—is coming to learn what the Bible teaches about God’s righteousness and making the appropriate adjustments throughout the life-time we are on earth.
The Practical Principles
Let me point out that everyone that finds themselves in a Financial Mess is not necessarily a victim of God’s Judgment, or God’s Punishment. It may have been our own fault…maybe it was an unwise choice made to leave our job too soon thinking we could get a better one and we shot ourselves in the foot by leaving without securing another job… Maybe it could have been a failure to pay our tithes and offerings… Maybe the reason for our lack of employment was because the company went out of business… Maybe we are doing all the right things and God allowed us to be laid-off so we could seek Him to open the door of employment somewhere else. Who knows why we are going thru what we are experiencing? Only you know why you are suffering!
Do Not Worry about Your Life
We must also come to understand that when we gave our lives to Jesus we are His property…we’ve been bought at a price of Jesus’ Blood being shed for us (See 1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV) With that being said Jesus opens up His teaching about not worrying by saying, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE…(Matthew 6:25 NKJV)
This powerful statement is an eye opening, thought provoking and deep saying that takes us to a Supernatural level of reconsidering our lives that must be totally reliant on Our Heavenly Father. This means when a menial job position is open and you can’t land the six-figure gig anymore—guess what God is allowing you to experience FAITH on a whole new dimension. Joseph (Jacob’s son) experienced the ups and downs of employment we may have too also.
When we have to settle for eating at a soup kitchen instead Patsy’s or Outback Steak House—guess what the children of Israel went thru it for 40 years. Now, the Key is if we won’t compliant we just might enter the Promise Land faster like 11 days (which was the original journey) instead of 40 years. The faster we see it’s not about us but about the way God will move us into a position of blessing with a whole bunch of challenges the faster we will arrive at our Promise Land on earth. But we must seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)
In 2013, the job will be added…the debt will be eliminated…the food will be provided…the clothing will be there to wear…the money to rent or buy property will be there…the finances will come in consistently…Jesus said it will be added! Look for it, seek it with all your heart, trust that God will deliver it to you, He is not a liar, we just have to understand how He will bring it to pass, Amen.
