At the end of my rope and nowhere to go
In life we see, hear, and feel so much tragedy, that we have to wonder where is God in all of this chaos. We have little babies dieing, good men and woman getting caught up in the wrong groups and overdosing, and then we have bad people that may get to live to 100 years old and have what appears to be a good life. So why are things the way they are? Where is God in all of this? How is a God that is all loving, caring, powerful and merciful allow these thing to take place.
Well the bottom line is we as humans are the ones that cause the chaos on this earth. We have been given the gift of free will, the gift to choose the path we take. You see, without the gift of choice we would be forces to all walk around like robots, all saying yes and no when we were programmed to do so. The gift of choice allows us to be able to pick and chose our friends, our jobs, our habits (even if they are bad ones). The reason God allows this is because when one chooses to follow the advice that has been given to them they make the effort to adhere to the advice and change their ways for the better.
Because we have been given the gift of choice, we have been given the opportunity to make wrong choices. I can tell you I have made many bad decisions in life, but when I look back on it, I have been taught many things from the bad choices I have made. Now if I have a harden heart and a closed mind, I would not be able to learn from the poor choices I have made in the past. God finds good thing from all situations Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. If you were to look back in your life and take yourself back to a point where you made a poor choice, a choice that had a negative impact on your life you would be able to see that at that time you could not see any good that would or could come from it. However now when you look back you should be able to see what you should have and hopefully did learn from the poor choice you made.
What we have to remember is, there are no surprises to God, and all things are known to Him Ro 8:27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Ro 8:28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Yes we do have choices to make and each choice we make will impact our lives and the lives of others; however I believe that the more right choices we make the better the life we will have. That does not mean you will be rich or have no problems because I also believe that we all become better and stronger from the trials and tribulations we go through 1Pe 1:7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
. God will never temp us however, He will use the temptations as trials, as tests Jas 1:13¶ Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. Why put us through all of this, why not just predestine our lives and let us be. Is this all a big game to the Lord of all the King of kings? Once again, it is all about going down the path that God has given us. Remember we not forced to go down this path we are just told to. We are told to for our own protection, God does not lay down laws and rules to hold us back, to keep us from having fun. He has the rules and laws in place to protect us from the pain and trouble we will face by not adhering to His Will, His Way and His Time.
So we know that Gods will for us is something that we should follow and we know that the laws and rules that have been laid out for us are for our own protection. But how do we know what Gods will is, how do we know if we are going down the right path. We are told to meditate on Gods word, to sit in our hiding place and pray Mt 6:5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Mt 6:6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. We need to be able to hear Gods voice. To often we drown out the voice of the Lord with sounds of the world i.e. the TV, radio, keeping busy, to busy to sit in silence and seek the God that has allowed me to write this. We are told to pray without ceasing. We must look to have a relationship with God, and in any relationship there is communication and prayer is how we communicate with God.
So what does this all mean? What about the outstanding men and women placing themselves in harms way for this outstanding country. Why have rapist, murderers, and pedophiles and so on. Why can’t God just strike down the evil ones and keep the good ones safe. Well he could and I’m sure he does. Remember there are no surprises to God he know our thoughts before we think them, he had a plan for use before we were born. We need to ask did we follow His plan did we follow His will or did we try to make our own path through the woods of life.
A quick story.
There was a man who just turned 23 he was madly in love with a beautiful woman and she was in love with him as well. One day he was walking to her house to ask her father if he could have her hand in marriage. On his way, he heard some fighting and crying in the distance from a woman. He went over to her to see what the trouble was. What he did not know was she was in the middle of being raped. The man jumped in to stop this horrendous act and was successful. However, he suffered 2 stab wounds from the struggle. One on his lower back and one on his face, he was now scarred on his face and no longer could use his legs. He never asked the woman of his dreams to marry him and they eventually departed from one another. He went on for years of pain, rehab and many sleepless nights saying his life was over. He wondered why all of this would happen to someone like himself, after all he was a Christian, and an overall good person. He was trapped in his own mind, trapped in the web he weaved. Until one day years later, he came across the woman of his dreams in a store, their eyes met and the feelings were instantly back. She went on to tell him all about where and what she has been up to. He didn’t have much to say, he wanted to be able to walk and redo the day he made the choice to save the life of someone he did not even know. The woman he once loved went on to tell him how proud she was of him for the actions he did that day. She said something to him that changed his life. “so many good people on this earth see other people doing evil things and do nothing to stop it, and that makes them as evil as the ones doing the evil act”. From that moment on he looked at what he had done in a different light, he knew that the pain he would have felt if he would have passed that woman up and gone to his future father-in-laws house would have been worse off then the pain he had felt for the past 8 years since the incident. He decided to encourage others; he ended up speaking around the world and became well known for motivating others and helping others improve their lives. The woman he saved went on to get married and have four children and was a teacher touching the hearts of many children.
So what’s the point of that story, well, although there are evil things and people in the world we can make an impact, we are to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. We are to help influence others for good, we are not to be influenced by the world but rather influence the world with Gods words, the word of Christ.
So when we face a choice in our life to stand up and do good even though we may place ourselves in harms way, we must remember that we are doing the right thing. Just think for a moment, what if no one tried to stop evil, well evil would prevail. Evil is said to love the dark because it is harder to see your sins when in the dark Joh 3:19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Joh 3:20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. This is why Christians are called to be the light of the world, to shine our light, the light that God gives us onto the world. We are to show other by example how to live in the light. The only thing that can defeat darkness is light. Bring yourself into a room without any light or windows you have nothing but darkness. Bring a light into that room and the darkness disappears, this is how a Christian is to be in the world.
We have to remember that God tests our faith in many ways. We must stand strong, not waver, but keep our mind focused on the prizes, the finish line. Therefore, when we start to question our faith we must dig in deep to the word of God and see, hear and read the truth about life. So remember whether its war, unforeseen death, or just any troubles we may face in the life, you must know God knows you and loves you and wants the very best for you. You may not think what you are going through is any good but remember God does not give us anything we cannot handle, and His ways are higher then ours and His thoughts are higher then ours. Never look at your life as your cup being half-empty but always as your cup overflowing.
We are to stand up strong, loud, and proud as Christians. When you think you’re at the end of your rope just remember that God has more rope there, you just may not be able to see it. God promises us that the rope is much longer then we can see.
