Humility

He knows himself as he is,
   his weakness and his strength.
He has no vain assumption,
   is untied to proud assessment.
Knows his station in his world,
whether very low or most high.
He lists his folly as well his wisdom,
where he has need, where he is rich.

His Source of gifts and talents
   is well known to him.
He is aware he can grant himself nothing
   and has access to everything.

Calls for help when weak,
and grants it for the needy.
In both cases he thanks his Lord,
   praising Him loudly
      and unashamed.

In any state, whether full or in want,
   he knows contentment.
He is always grateful
   with the light of Hope
      never leaving his eye.

His mind is ever sober,
his feet stand firm upon the earth,
his eyes are always upon Heaven.
His mind is made for knowledge,
his heart is built for trust,
     his life created for wisdom.

This man knows where he comes from
as well as where he is going.
He is fully aware each reality
is his gift from the Lord.

He came to know himself
once he came to know his God.
His beloved humility can always be found
   in his Eternal Life.
